For the third year in a row, the Hippodrome, Manhattan’s A+ office building located in the heart of Midtown, at 1120 Avenue of the Americas (co-owned by Edison Properties, parent company to Edison Offices), is forgoing lobby decorations for the holidays and instead partnering with organizations that help New Yorkers in need.
This year, the company is focusing on Food Bank for NYC, to which it has donated $20,000.
“We love the holidays as much as anyone,” said Archie Gottesman, Chief Branding Officer of Edison Properties. “And what we love most is the holiday spirit of giving to those less fortunate. Colored lights, candles and tinsel are beautiful, but even more beautiful is providing a warm meal to a family that needs one.”
Food Bank For NYC warehouses and distributes free food for over 1.5 million hungry New Yorkers each and every year. Founded in 1983, it is one of the country’s largest food banks.
In addition to donating to Food Bank for NYC, all of Edison’s Manhattan Mini Storage locations, as well as The Ludlow, the company’s Lower East Side luxury rental apartment tower, at 188 Ludlow Street, will run food drives from Thanksgiving through mid-December and encourage New Yorkers to make food donations at any of these locations.
Edison is also partnering with LivePerson, the online marketing and web analytics company, and the charity volunteer program FeedingNYC to hand-deliver entire Thanksgiving dinners to the doors of families in need across all five boroughs. (Due to flooding at Pier 60 this year, FeedingNYC will take place at Moynihan Station, 360 West 33rd Street.)
Finally, Manhattan Mini Storage will donate 3,500 boxed meals that will be delivered to families affiliated with the charitable organizations Women in Need, the Jewish Federation, Catholic Charities and City Harvest.
